On Saturday, November 3, 2012 KIITEC Graduate George Mcharo received a special award for his exemplary performance as a Physics and Information and Computer Technology teacher at the School of St. Jude in Arusha, Tanzania. Mcharo is the first teacher in St. Jude’s 10-year history to receive such an award, and was praised by the administration as an incredibly bright and dedicated teacher who is helping to change the lives of so many young students interested in science and technology.

St. Jude’s is a charity-funded school that provides free, high-quality primary and secondary education to 1,500 of the poorest and brightest children of the Arusha region in Tanzania. St. Jude’s Academic Head, Jane Wall, presented Mcharo with the award during the Form 4 Graduation. In attendance were students, parents, faculty and staff to celebrate St. Jude's first class of graduates to move on to secondary school.

KIITEC’s management team recently met with St. Jude’s Deputy Founding Director Kim Saville and Board member Cindy Skarbek, to explore partnership opportunities between the two schools and to learn how we can work together to encourage high quality education in the Arusha area.
